Depression is probably one of the most common kinds of mental disorder, with many people around the world who claim to suffer from it. Depression can be difficult to treat as the signs of it differ greatly from person to person. One person may suffer from mild depression with feelings of sadness, and another may have a worse degree of depression and feel like they can’t go on with their life.

The first thing you must realise is that if you think you ay be suffering with clinical depression then you should go and see your doctor straight away to be diagnosed and treated. But in the meantime there are several natural remedies that can help alleviate the symptoms of depression.

A good diet and plenty of exercise can help to beat those blues. Make sure you eat three good meals a day, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables in between. You should also be sure to get plenty of fresh air. If you don’t feel like doing any strenuous exercise, then a simple walk in the walk should be enough to clear your cobwebs.

Feelings of stress are another common symptom of depression. To combat stress you could try some relaxation methods or meditation. Yoga is another form of meditation that can help you relax and get exercise at the same time. Why not join up with a local yoga group and mingle with other people at the same time.

Eating foods that are rich in fatty acids can also help beat depression. Omega 3 fatty acids can mostly be found in fresh fish like sardines or salmon. You can also purchase supplements such as oil or capsules that contain omega 3. Vitamin B12 can also help get rid of the blues. Vitamin B12 can be found in milk, eggs, yogurt, cheese and chicken.
