Start eating slowly
When we are hungry and start eating it takes about 30 minutes for the brain and stomach to synchronize. The stomach will signal the brain that it is full but this message will take 30 minutes to be processed by our brain. When you eat fast you will consume more calories than you need until the brain is notified. So, an easy way to consume fewer calories is to eat slowly and ensure that you chew your food well.
Prefer to eat your fruits instead of drinking their juice
Fruits are essential for a healthy diet and should be consumed on a daily basis. An easy way to get the vitamins from fruits in the lower amount of calories is to eat your fruits instead of drinking fruit juices. For example a raw orange has about 45 calories while a class of orange juice has 90 calories. You can eat your orange and drink a glass of water instead of drinking an orange juice. Besides the calorie savings you will also reduce your appetite and save more calories during your main meals.
Switch to low fat dairy
Dairy products are full of protein which is necessary for a healthy weight loss. It is not recommended to eliminate dairy products from your daily diet but you can switch to low fat instead of full fat. For example you can drink low fat milk with your coffee and cereals and eat light cheese with your sandwich and toast. These alternatives have equally the same taste and have fewer calories than full fat.
Natural and organic products
Processed foods and non-natural products are not only bad for your health but also work against your weight loss efforts. Whenever possible try to select natural and organic products since they have more vitamins and nutrients, they taste better and have fewer calories.
