We get burns almost every day. It may be in the kitchen, by electricity, by any kind of radiation or in handling of hot substance. Burns are also caused by exposure of any body part to laser or direct heat.
A burn in scientific language is a damage done to the tissues of the body. The nearby areas of a burn tend to inflammation and sometimes produces serum or certain liquid oozes out. We grow too lazy to consult a doctor many a times and do nothing about such burns. But it is very important to cure such a wound. But again there are three kinds of burns.
The first one is called the first-degree burns. These are milder ones and can be treated at home. While the other two categories are of a severe kind and it is advisable to see a doctor in that concerned and should not be left unattended.
For treating the first degree burns at home you can try the following methods.
The basic treatment of every kind of burn wound starts with washing of the burnt area with water. Rinse the wound thoroughly with water. This is the most effectual and a very simple step of treating a burn.
The next thing you can do is applying honey on the burnt area. Honey has intriguing healing qualities.
You can also use a teaspoon full of yogurt or curd to treat the burn. This provides some instant relief from the burning sensation experienced.
Aloe vera also proves extremely useful in treating the burn wound. You should apply the gel in every one hour and it provides relief and helps in healing too.
If you use pure lavender oil on the effected area, the pain would subside within few minutes. It is advised here that you should be using the pure form of lavender oil.
A ripened papaya works beyond one’s imagination. There are special enzymes in a ripened papaya that not only help in providing relief but also they help in replacing dead and damaged cells from the burnt site with new cells and promote cell growth.
Whole milk is another natural form of the treatment of a burn. Dip your finger or the effected area in whole milk for about fifteen minutes. This would take away the burning sensation instantly.
If you are a follower of acupressure then you might want to use it in the treatment of a burn. It is said that if you have a burn somewhere on the tip of a finger then pricking your earlobe would help you in providing relief.
Egg white, detergent and toothpaste, when applied immediately to the effected area also help in healing of the burnt skin.
Use of certain oils like pure form of coconut oil and lavender oil, on the area burnt will help in the fading of the mark from the skin. You should apply any of these oils at least twice a day for getting rid off the scar.
