They invade our territory without invitation and bring on the onslaught of disease and pandemics. Cleaning the home is an art and a science. Today, our market racks in the home cleaning segment are full of various cleaning agents and bleach based solutions to the necessity. However, remember, it is your home you are dealing with and many over the counter chemical solutions freely available are in fact making the home environment not so safe for the kids and yourself.

But, like the age old adage, the problem comes with its own solution and this one lies in the power of natural herbs. You don’t really need to invest hundreds to dollars in cleaning agents, simply turn towards the kitchen cabinets! Cleaning our homes is something we all have to do every day, whether we like it or not. If you are anything like I used to be then you will have a kitchen cupboard full of bottles of cleaning fluid, from bleach to window cleaner, and from oven cleaner to insecticide. Although most of these cleaners do their job well, they also contain plenty of chemicals that are harmful to the environment and to yourself.

Luckily there are plenty of natural remedies and ingredients that will help you to keep your house sparkling just as well as the formulas that are full of chemicals. Here is a small list of 5 of them:

1. Vinegar

Vinegar can literally be used all around your home for thousands of different cleaning jobs. You can use it in the bathroom to help remove mildew and mould from around your shower. It can be used to help remove tough stains from your carpets. Vinegar can also be mixed with water to clean mirrors and windows.

2. Lemon

Lemon is a great ingredient that can help you to clean around your house. Lemon juice does a brilliant job of removing soap scum from around your taps and sinks. Lemon juice mixed with olive oil can help clean any hard wood furniture in your home. It also can be used as a natural air freshener, in stinky places like fridges and microwaves.

3. Baking Soda

Baking soda really is a multi purpose natural cleaning agent. Anything that needs cleaning, you can be sure that baking soda will do the job. It can be used on hard to clean surfaces like cookers, and pots and pans that have burnt on food stuck on them. A bowl of baking soda in the bottom of your fridge can keep away bad smells. Baking soda can also be used as a paste (mixed with water) to clean silverware.

Not only will using natural ingredients to help clean your home be beneficial to the environment but can save you lots of money too.
